Custom Kantha Kaftans
This listing is for Custom Handmade Kantha Kaftans using YOUR favorite shirt! PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!
That’s right! We can create a beautiful kaftan for you using any T-shirt you provide! Well, almost any…the only rule is that the shirt must be in good enough condition to withstand being sewn. That means those old, holey, paper thin tour tees from back in the day just might not work. Only because the Kantha fabric we use is a little heavier in weight and we need the shirt to be able to actually hold up to being sewn to it, and create a long lasting piece for you to wear and love. So please note, if a shirt is sent to us that is too delicate to be sewn, it will be sent back and you will be refunded for your purchase.
So what else do you need to do? Just pick a favorite shirt, old or new and send it to us! We will provide a shipping address in a follow up email after purchase. Or for locals to Eagle Mountain, Utah, it can be dropped off and an address will also be sent to you. Please put a note in your purchase that you will be dropping off and we’ll go from there.
How is the Kantha fabric chosen? Well, it’s a bit of a surprise! So if you’re not into surprises, this might not be the right choice for you, but if that’s your jam, we’ll be sure to pick something that goes great with your shirt. Our Kantha fabric comes shipped to us in bulk packs without any way to choose what we receive. So it’s like getting a blind box of gorgeous fabrics every time. So when you place an order for a custom shirt, we will either use what fabrics we have on hand, or order more in and choose the best colors and patterns to match the shirt we have been given. We’ll make it a whole vibe, we promise!
And if you’ve read this far, thank you, because there’s more… We are adding an option to upgrade to a PATCHWORK option for your Kantha sleeves. That’s right, we will make the sleeves out of a variety of different Kantha fabrics that we have on hand, cut them into patches, stitch them together and use the beautiful mashup of different colors and patterns to create a truly one of a kind piece for you. Just choose PATCHWORK KANTHA UPGRADE before adding to cart to get this option for your shirt!
Turnaround time on customs is approximately two weeks and can vary depending on shipping times and around busy holidays, so please watch for correspondence if we have any concerns regarding turnaround. We get to work right away on customs as soon as they arrive and ship them out immediately after they are completed.
Due to the custom nature of these shirts, we do not accept returns or issue refunds outside of any type of manufacturing defects that could occur. Please note, due to the Kantha quilts being made by hand that we use, they do often fray, become thinner over time, and bits of thread can come undone. This is normal and to be expected for this fabric. The “worn” look of this fabric is in its nature and this does not apply to the manufacturing defects mentioned. If you have any issues with our sewn parts, we will repair them free of charge (outside of shipping costs)
